The Chief Warden program is designed to develop competent leaders during a crisis and to increase effectiveness of an Emergency Control Organisation, resulting in a safer response to emergencies and increasing survivability of the building occupants.

This program provides participants designated to perform the role of Chief Warden, Deputy Warden and Communications Officer comprehensive training in fire safety and emergency management. It prepares participants with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge to prepare for and respond to onsite workplace emergencies and supervise evacuation of the workplace, including practical incident control, post evacuation management, human behaviour, installed fire safety systems, emergency events and building evacuations.

Particular attention is placed on meeting the requirements of Australian Standard AS3745-2010 Planning for emergencies in facilities, (AS4083-2010 Health Care Facilities) and how it applies to workplaces.
